The Bucks County Symphony Orchestra presents its Family Concert at Central Bucks High School East in Buckingham, PA.
The BCSO welcomes the Wind Ensemble of Holicong Middle School as our special guests at the annual Family Concert. The featured soloist is the 2022 Youth Concerto Competition 1st prize winner, 14-year-old violinist Audrey Kim. Maestro José Luis Domínguez and the BCSO will introduce concertgoers to the various orchestral instruments as they present Benjamin Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.

Youth Concerto Competition First Prize Winner, Audrey Kim
Audrey Kim, age 14, won first prize in the BCSO’s Youth Concerto Competition for her exemplary performance of the third movement of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. She received the prestigious Jeanne Marvin Phillips Prize and an invitation to perform with the BCSO at the 2022 Family Concert.
Audrey Kim started playing the violin at the age of 4 and currently studies with J Freivogel. She joined Temple Music Prep’s Center for Gifted Young Musicians 6 years ago, during which time she has played in its orchestras and small string ensembles. Recently, she was accepted to the Advanced Study Scholarship Ensemble program at the Settlement Music School and studies in the Myer Schwartz Piano Trio coached by Mitchell Newman.
Audrey soloed with Temple Prep’s Youth Chamber Orchestra and Main Line Symphony Orchestra as a winner of the James Deitz Memorial Young Artist Competition in 2021. She received the first prize of the 2022 Tri-County Youth Festival in the Junior Strings Division and was also selected as one of three finalists in the 2022 Irving Ludwig Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra Concerto/Aria Competition.
Audrey was awarded a full scholarship as a winner of the 2020 Luzerne Music Center Young Artist Scholarship Competition as well as a merit scholarship from Boston University Tanglewood Institute. Upon winning the 2017 Little Mozarts Competition, she performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and was given a monetary award and invitation to participate in an international tour.
Audrey has participated in solo masterclasses with Sibbi Bernhardsson, Robert Chen, Ilya Kaler, Juliette Kang, Paul Kantor, Violaine Melancon, Blair Milton, Marc Rovetti, Eduard Schmieder, and Philip Setzer, and chamber music masterclasses with Steven Tenebom and Merz Trio. Summer festivals she has attended include the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Northwestern University Summer Violin Institute, Saint Paul Chamber Music Institute, Luzerne Music Center, and Philadelphia International Music Festival.
Audrey is a freshman at Conestoga High School in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, where she is involved in the music program and is a member of the Varsity Girls Ice Hockey Team.
